August 3rd
Finished work and flew to Montreal business class! So excited because we are going to Montreal to check out a Porsche! We don’t get to our hotel and into bed until 4:00 am.
August 4th
Checkout and take a taxi to the dealership. We did a test drive, got the audio working with no help from the technicians (but thanks to the tech savy soon to be owners) and by 11:00 am we drove our Porsche 911 Carrera 4S off the lot! Wahoo! Regina here we come! This is going to be a Epic Road trip.
About 5 minutes from the dealership, some idiot on the freeway almost rear ends us! It is a little freaky since it feels like we should have a cone of protection around us and all the cars seem to be in our space. They are all too close for comfort. We head towards Ottawa and stop at a Tim Horton’s for a photo op. We continue on to Ottawa for a overnight visit with the Wilsons so we can sabre some sparkling!
August 5th
We are up bright and early to hit the road after all we have 3088 km to travel! We crank the tunes and motor. Too much fun. We stop for breakfast at some small town café for good ol’bacon and eggs – just what we need after a night of drinking with the Wilsons. We make our way through cottage country.
Look in the side mirror – love the hips on this vehicle!

Premium petrol is hard to find. Damn. We need to plan how far we are going to go today because the population concentration is sparse and we are worried about moose and deer on the road once it gets dark. We make it to Hearst, Ontario in 11 hours.
August 6th
Again, up early and hit the road. We find a straight stretch and test out the power. No one is on the highway. Just us. Wow! We continue on to Thunder Bay and stop at the Terry Fox Monument. The monument is gorgeous and moving. The views are breath taking. We continue on the Trans Canada towards Kenora. The highway is sparsely populated and again it is hard to find premium petrol. We get to Lake of the Woods area late on the Sunday afternoon of this long weekend. Yikes, now we make up for the quiet highway. Beautiful cottage country but the traffic is unreal with crazy drivers. We are planning on stopping in Winnipeg for the night. We plug our way through the throngs of traffic towards Winnipeg. Once we get to Winnipeg we have a decision to make. 5 hours and we could be home? Do we do it? We decide to go for it. Shortly after the Saskatchewan border we see the gorgeous prairie sunset.
On to Regina. 19 hours after leaving Hearst, Ontario we are home. A total of 30 hours of driving since we left Ottawa yesterday. Can’t believe we did that. It is good to be home.
August 7th, holiday Monday
We head over to the Legislative grounds to take pictures.
